Zamora not in Provisional 30

If there was ever more proof that the National Teams are really just political All-Star squads, I give you this:

Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey

Argh. Do we have to go through this again?!?

Bobby Zamora’s 14 total goals across three competitions isn’t good enough but 5 goals for Heskey in three competitions — of which two goals came in the Carling Cup — is??

So Capello wants to take Heskey who, on the international stage alone, couldn’t score in two games against Rapid Vienna and not Zamora who scored against Juventus (while making Fabio Cannavaro his bitch), twice against Wolfsburg, and once against the Donetsk and their Ukrainian international centre-backs.

I give up.

In fairness, though, Heskey’s never really been there for his goals, but because he’s a decent hold up player who works well with Rooney.

Zamora can do all that Heskey can do and also score goals, I was looking forward to seeing how he would link up with Rooney, but yet again Capello has bottled it. So much for “I will only pick players on their form, not there reputation.” Same old same old, england will not win the cup with these chumps, but I bet Capello will make loads of money off his betting site. :-(
