Changing Times?
By: Andrew | December 12th, 2007Okay so to be honest, we were awful in the second half of the Everton game and the scoreline clearly reflected that. I didn’t watch the game, but from what I heard, I probably would have turned it off at 2-0. To say there’s a serious lack of confidence among the players is an understatement. What happened to the days when we scored for fun? Now, Dempsey (our only decent attacking player) is being played for 20 minutes then subbed off, and Kuqi, a player on loan from Crystal Palace (a championship side) is playing 90 minutes! What is happening to Sanchez? Has he become deluded?
There’s been some slight rumblings that it’s time for a change. We’re currently 17th (just out of the relegation zone, and most of the teams around us (Wigan, Tottenham, Bolton, etc.) have changed managers. But would a new manager be necessarily good for us or cause more confusion and instability among the players? My verdict: give him the next two games. Newcastle and Wigan. Both of these are very winnable ties and everyone will be disappointed if we do not come away with at least 4 points. If he gets less than 4, I think Sanchez will be shown the door. But who to appoint? Here are some names that have been mentioned: Billy Davies, Martin Jol, Martin Allen, Paul Bracewell, Roy Hodgson, Gerrard Houllier, Leroy Rosenior, Terry Butcher, Glenn Hoddle, Joe Royle, Berti Vogts, Marcello Lippi even Jose Mourinho. I think all Fulham fans would love to see the last name!
Finally,
Marlon King to Fulham?

I think Sanchez has been given a few stays of execution already in this short season. It’s time for a change. I don’t think a new coach would be anymore disruptive than the one we have right now. Remember when we played like Derby and two other lower teams about a month or so ago and everyone said “these are winnable games…we need to get points away from these games”. Well, we didn’t. I don’t want to go through that repeatedly this season.
