Stoke Preview
By: timmyg | December 11th, 2008Stoke and Fulham couldn’t be more different, yet also similar.
Separated by one point and 4 places, Stoke plays footy the way England used to. Fulham, the way the continent does. Stoke are doing their best, and doing well at it, at surviving. Fulham are treading unfamiliar territory: the top half of the table.
Reports are that Rory Delap and his magical throw-ins will be out. Although this should be a sigh of relief, I’m more concerned with how Fulham will deal with Stoke’s physicality. When we went to Blackburn in September, the results were grim. Slidetackle FC did just that and Woy conceded the points.
Now, Fulham really shouldn’t, and in my mind cannot, concede all 3 points. A win and its more top half goodness. A loss and its mid-table mediocrity. Which, after the last few seasons, may be a relief.
But what I’m intrigued most by this upcoming match is the latest comments found on Sky, particularly where Gera says he’s going to play on the right. When, as we all know, thats been Davies’ position, and his alone, since he showed up practically two years ago. Per usual, cravencottagenewsround with a great piece about the stalwart Welshman.
Oh, and the reserves drew 1-1 with Spurs. Interestingly enough Kallio, Baird, Etuhu, Seol, and Andreasen all played. Whether that means they’ll see some first team action remains to be seen.
