Preview?!?
By: timmyg | May 15th, 2009I don’t normally preview matches, but tomorrow is just too big.
In case you hadn’t heard, Newcastle won last week. Which means the Messiah Shearer is back in all his glory.
Except, in mind, not.
Perhaps I’m jinxing the club, but we’ve faced a similar situation when we went to the Riverside in April. Boro had just dismantled Hull City, and threw everything forward at us. But the line held, Roy’s tactics prevailed over momentum. And I expect the same tomorrow.
I’ll admit it, I cannot even name Newcastle’s starting midfielders or defenders except for Coloccini (sp?). That’s not a cheap sleight toward Toon Army, but just proof that they’re just not a good club.
If you think otherwise, here’s a stat for you: before Boro’s woeful defense allowed Viduka to run rampant and let Toon score 3 easy goals, Toon had scored just one goal since Shearer arrived in early April. Another: they’ve won just three time since mid-December, the latest on Monday.
A win, and some favorable results elsewhere, and we’re booked for Europe. Wow. I can’t believe I just wrote that.
And as a result, I’ve never been more excited. Hence, the preview.
