More musings over United

By: timmyg | March 21st, 2009

Here’s some more home stats against the big four.

2007-08: Zero points, 1 scored, 10 against.
2006-07: Six points, 4 scored, 5 against.
2005-06: Six points, 5 scored, 7 against.
2004-05: One point, 4 scored, 12 against.

So already this year Fulham have eclipsed the point total against the main honchos. And unless Liverpool run riot, Fulham will have met or surpassed the goals scored, and conceded the least. Credit to the lads and Roy indeed.

Here’s some interesting foreshadowing in Friday’s Daily Mirror:

MANCHESTER UNITED’S bogeyman Danny Murphy will crank up the pressure on the champions after discovering the joy of text.
The Fulham skipper has been bombarded with messages from his Anfield pals following Liverpool’s heroics at Old Trafford, begging him to add to United’s woes by scoring the winner against them tomorrow.
Murphy has the Indian sign over United and is the only player to net three winners against them at home in the Premier League. The former England midfielder said: “I would absolutely love to score another winner against United. I think that would make a lot of people I know very happy.
“But at the end of the day, I wouldn’t care who scored the winner as long as Fulham won.
“I got to see a few of the Liverpool lads last Friday night because they were staying in the same hotel as us in Manchester before our games. I had a good chat with Carra and Stevie in their rooms.
“I’ve no doubt there will be a few more texts coming my way from those same lads before we play United again. Obviously we won’t be favourites to beat them, but we can give anyone a game at our place.”
United cruised to a 4-0 win in the FA Cup just two weeks ago at Craven Cottage, but Murphy claims getting that first away win at Bolton last Saturday has galvanised the Cottagers.
Roy Hodgson’s side are clear of the relegation fight and Murphy, who was 32 on Wednesday, added: “What happened at Bolton was really positive. Let’s not forget we’ve beaten Arsenal and drawn with Chelsea at our place this season.”

Make that four home winners, albeit one for us. And the first home win over United since 1964.

funny, the video is from “timbo.”

and as I said in last month’s podcast: he deserves an england callup. even if its some friendly against Latvia, there’s no reason he shouldn’t get that 10th cap.

an England call up should be on the cards for Murphy .. why such an exceptional player get’s constantly over looked is beyond me .. if Capello wants to solve the Gerrard – Lampard probelm, all he needs to do is drop Frank & play Danny ..
