Ins and Outs: Fulham making moves
By: jon | July 17th, 2008Fulham have been very active in the transfer market (if not splashing a lot of cash) so far this window. Here’s a little recap of the moves, and potential moves that have gone down.
- Frederik Stoor from Rosenborg on the way in, Volzy on the way out?
- Ricardo Batista has left the club, and is looking for first team action at Sporting Lisbon. Good luck, Ricardo.
- Robbie Threlfall and Bradley Hudson-Odoi are off (who? exactly) to Hereford United, a League One side.
- The big acquisitions were obviously Bobby Zamora and John Pantsil, a move to shore up depth issues in the front and weakness in the back. As I said above, this looks like the end for Volz, and hopefully, Chris Baird.
- Dejan Stankovic could be headed to Norwich City. See ya.
Fulham have got a match against Celtic FC on Saturday, so that should be good. I obviously won’t be able to watch it, but I’ll look for recaps.
This activity is a good sign, but its still a bit worrisome to me that Fulham have been mostly hesitant to sign bigger names (not Ronaldinho types, but talented players who are young). We’ll see if this cobbled together team of older players leaving on frees will make progress this season.
