Arsenal 4-0 Fulham

Not much to say really. Another weekend league game, another eight changes to the lineup. John Panstil started at center-half, and Fredrik Stoor was a substitute. If it was ever about midweek action, this week is it.

This match and the Stoke loss at midweek could cause some to worry about Wednesday. But two dynamics have had diverging fortunes: our league performance has really nose dived since the come-from-behind victory over Birmingham on February 21 while our Europa campaign has intensified.

If you do the numbers, Fulham’s league record since that thrilling victory is a not so stellar 11 played, 2 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses. Of 33 points on offer, Fulham managed just 9 — and at least half the games were fielded with JV squads. Yet the Europa campaign over that span saw 7 games, 4 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.

I don’t want to do the math, but I’m almost positive Birmingham had as just a poor run of form.

Some time after Wednesday I’ll break down the league, hand out awards, and figure out what went differently this campaign. Stay tuned for that.
