Another victory, and some Hammers show up

Okay, so it was against League One cupcakes Southend United, but still — a victory is a victory.
Erik Nevland and Danny Murphy, continuing his scoring ways, each netted once for the Whites en route to the 2-0 shutout. Because it was the first friendly of the pre-season, the roster is usually a casserole of regulars, fringe players, and newbies. Yet there were some surprises, most notable summer signing David Stockdale starting in net, Steven Davis returning to the club, and the appearance of Lee Cook. Yes, he actually played for the club. Even Andranik and Gera saw some minutes. Here are more photos.
Also, the first transfer action occurred on Wednesday, as the West Ham duo of Bobby Zamora and John Pantsil trekked from East London to SW6. The transfer fees are rumored to be a collective 6-million pounds, which isn’t too bad. I would have preferred a more prolific scorer than Zamora, who can never stay healthy (but then, no one could last year for West Ham. Someone should investigate their training regimen/medical staff…). And, although he’s a Ghanian International, I know next to nothing about Panstil. And the club already has 3 right backs…
Fulham returns to action this Saturday, when they host Celtic. I for one am intrigued as to who Woy will select.
