The Saga Begins
By: Andrew | November 2nd, 2007Sources are reporting in a shock announcement that board members of The Offside have named unknown blogger Andrew head of the Fulham Blog. Andrew, who turns seventeen next March, arrived at headquarters amid a flurry of photographers and reporters. At a club press conference, he was announced to the public and in a brief speech attempted to quell fears that he is not the right man for the job. “Ever since I could hold a pencil, I’ve been writing,” he said. “This job is no different.”
With Fulham looking towards the drop, Andrew will need to do all he can to write about the team who have looked devoid of life and unconfident in the past few games. He will take charge of his first game tomorrow afternoon when The Cottagers host a shaky Reading side at Craven Cottage. Okay, enough theatrics, and a little about myself.
I’m 16 and a junior at a high school New Jersey, USA. I never really followed soccer until four years ago when my dad took me to a Metrostars game at Giants Stadium. After that, it’s been soccer (or football) all the way. I’d say my dad who lived in London for many years first got me onto Fulham when he would wander around the house with his jersey with the old Pizza Hut logo on Saturday afternoons. Also, since I recently got Fox Soccer Channel, I can now actually watch Fulham in all their glory and disgrace (in the past few weeks, it’s been most of the latter). About the lack of winning recently: growing up as a NY Jets fan, a NY Knicks fan, and a Redbulls/Metrostars fan, it’s nothing new. In fact, it’s worse, since the concept of tying doesn’t exist in American sports.
Anyway, there’ve been rumblings recently that’s it time for Sanchez to go. Tomorrow would be the perfect opportunity for him to prove everyone wrong and for Dempsey and Healy to lead the team to their 4th (yes 4th) victory in 32 matches (pathetic, isn’t it?). But, after watching last Saturday against Sunderland, I’ve learned that for The Cottager, nothing is ever certain.

Good luck, buddy. As the former author, I hope you can keep the faith better than me. A 0-0 draw to Derby just killed it for me.
I shall still be cheering for Demps, Boca, and McBride when he gets back. Good luck.
