transfer review/season preview

By: timmyg | Comments 7 Comments

All the pundits and fans were saying Fulham needed to bolster their roster, particularly with quality, to cope with the Europa League and have a chance of matching last year’s successes.
Mission accomplished? Well, sort of…
Roy did add several new faces, but are they the class that the media and fans were wanting?
Former Brummie Stephen [...]

Our lad in Turku

By: timmyg | Comments 5 Comments

Seems the TPS fans in Turku, Finland have taken warmly to Wayne Brown, and are sad to see him leave on August 16.
More (great) info from Nordic Football, replete with gushing quotes from the loanee about his stay:
“Please don’t take my Wayne Brown away” is the last line of a TPS supporters’ chant composed to [...]

Start the clocks

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

Recently back from AmeriCorps orientation, fresh off the first day on the job of fighting poverty, and counting down the days until the season starts.
Which is just under a fortnight away.
All the preseason friendlies are over for the first team, as the scheduling powers decided to focus on the Europa League. And thanks to the [...]

Pawel Brozek

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

For those England-based fans patiently waiting for tomorrow’s draw to see where they’ll be on July 30 or August 6, they won’t be seeing Paweł Brożek.
Not because (we think) he’s staying in Poland, but he’s Cup-tied since he played in Wisła Kraków’s 1-1 draw with Levadia Tallinn in yesterday’s Champions League second qualifying round match.
Rats.
I [...]

Loaner Report May 3 — Football League Special

By: timmyg | Comments 1 Comment

With this weekend ending the Football League’s regular season, all of our lower-league loaners should be coming back before the summer transfer period.
We think.
There’s a lot to discuss as each player’s story away from SW6 comes to a close. Sure, Seoul, Brown, and Leon are still playing elsewhere, somewhere. But their tales will come [...]

Night Falls on Kortedala

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

Or on the transfer window, I should say.
Well no striker is heading to this part of SW6, nor is there some big last-second signing. Instead, just lots of arriving and departing loan deals. Whether that’s because of the economy or Woy’s prudence is unclear. But I still maintain we could have used another target man [...]

Bye Bye Bullard

By: timmyg | Comments 2 Comments

Okay so I’m a little late on this. But in case you didn’t know Jimmy Bullard has been sold to Hull City for 5 million pounds.
As I’ve stated here and elsewhere, the question of Bullard leaving this transfer window was always a possibility. In fact, I’m really not surprised it happened considering this “groin/hamstring/plague” [...]

More news and notes

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

Sorry about not updating, but its really not like a whole lot has happened this past week.
Frozen pitch causing the postponement of the Blackburn match? Mehh. It would have been more timely to post about it then, but I was out of town at the time. If we get fined, then I definitely will post [...]
