catching up

So Bobby Zamora is staying, Peter Crouch isn’t coming, Peterborough almost win after being down 3-0, and the reserves squeak by Aldershot.
Been a busy 24-plus hours! Where to start?
Well, according to the News of the World, Hodgson said Zamora rejected terms with Hull. Whether that’s before or after he scored a brace against Peterborough [...]

Charm City footy

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

Totally un-Fulham related, but the newspaper here in Baltimore has a pictorial history of footy in this city.
Major kudos to the Sun for doing this, and devoting lots of coverage (and more) for the friendly between Chelsea and AC Milan this evening. Its sold out, but I wasn’t planning on attending anyway.
I wouldn’t be surprised [...]

Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho, its off Vilnius we go!
FK Vetra came from a 1-0 first leg defeat and quickly were 2-0 down on aggregate against HJK Helsinki before rallying to win 3-2 today and play host to Fulham next Thursday.
According to the coefficient rankings, Vetra is ranked 70th overall (we’re 17th).
Once the rest of the second qualifying [...]

After a relatively successful trip to Australia, the tune up for the Europa League began in earnest this evening…
Against Bournemouth and Woking.
Nevertheless, the first team drew 0-0 with the Cherries and Kamara featured after halftime. The reserves won 4-1 against Blue Square Premier Woking F.C. No details, including who even played, up on the [...]

Pawel Brozek

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

For those England-based fans patiently waiting for tomorrow’s draw to see where they’ll be on July 30 or August 6, they won’t be seeing Paweł Brożek.
Not because (we think) he’s staying in Poland, but he’s Cup-tied since he played in Wisła Kraków’s 1-1 draw with Levadia Tallinn in yesterday’s Champions League second qualifying round match.
Rats.
I [...]

Ranking the Europa League

By: timmyg | Comments 5 Comments

Whew.
Finally got around to ranking all the clubs participating in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League, and Fulham are ranked 17th. I was originally thinking we’d be lower than that, but not too bad considering there are 133 clubs participating.
Because UEFA does draws and not playoffs, and lower ranked teams may enter at [...]

looking for the news

Never thought I’d say it, but I really wish the American sports media was covering this club, and game.
Why? Because then I’d have a better idea as to what’s going on at Motspur Park. Excluding the the Australian Tour roster and the “reports” that “link” us to other players, we’re left in the dark as [...]

adios amigos…

Volzy, Barnes and Dacourt are amongst several players being released today.
John, Gray and Laribi (?) are also being let go.
No real surprises for any of them as Dacourt was the only player to even see the field last season.
Its still sad to see Volzy go. Hopefully he doesn’t hang up his boots. But if [...]
