Dempsey, the best Christmas gift

By: timmyg | Comments 4 Comments

Five points for the Christmas period? Well, guess I was right after all. As the puppet would say, “Fantastic!”
The victory over Boro was to be expected. The draw at White Hart Lane was a mixed bag — glad to get a point, but frustrated we couldn’t get three. Drawing against Chelsea at the death thanks [...]

A point at the Lane

By: timmyg | Comments 1 Comment

Wow, turns out my prediction was correct.
Soccernet is describing it as a bore fest, but the match was really anything but. There were some clear chances that neither Fulham nor Spurs executed, but the two also didn’t blow it.
With Baird subbing for the sick Hangeland, my pulse raced each time Tottenham threw men forward. But [...]

Spurs Preview and Happy Holidays!

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

Happy Holidays from Massachusetts, where I’m spending this festive period at my parents house. There’s nothing like having the week off for vacation, and it being the festive football period.
Speaking of, thanks to last weekend’s demolition of Boro my hopes for the next two matches are quite low. If Fulham can nick a point [...]

Best game of the season, for three seasons

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

With the exception of last year’s ManCity Miracle, the last time Fulham scored more three or more goals — and won — was February 11, 2006 when they beat West Brom 6-1.
Although I wasn’t a fan of even footy then, I’m sure today’s 3-0 victory over Boro was equally as dominant.
The MOTM must go [...]

Stoke City review

By: timmyg | Comments 1 Comment

How does a tenth placed club have the second worst offense in the league? And how does that team have the fourth best defense?
And when, a week or so before Christmas, is that same (inexplicably) 10th placed club only three points from the drop?!?
When its the 2008-09 EPL season, thats when!
There’s not much to report [...]

Stoke Preview

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

Stoke and Fulham couldn’t be more different, yet also similar.
Separated by one point and 4 places, Stoke plays footy the way England used to. Fulham, the way the continent does. Stoke are doing their best, and doing well at it, at surviving. Fulham are treading unfamiliar territory: the top half of the table.
Reports are that [...]

Manchester City review

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

Even through half-asleep eyelids this match was disappointing, albeit just slightly.
A frantic opening spell resulted in Benjani scoring a beuaty of a header from an equally beautiful cross. But the score wasn’t surprising. Fulham’s passing was pathetic, with no rhythm and flow until 20 minutes into the match.
Then things turned around when the [...]

More of the same

By: timmyg | Comments No Comments

And I mean that in a good way. No, seriously!
Although I missed most of the Villa draw because the illegal feeds kept cutting shut down, Fulham’s official site thankfully had highlights per usual (which deserves an award of its own).
In other news, the kiddos lost in the FA Youth Cup to Plymouth Argyle 2-1. And [...]
